For whatever reason I’ve really been wanting something “new” in my life.
Call it mid-life crisis or just over-worked, but I’ve had this overwhelming desire to make something or just have something new.
Considering I have a history with motorcycles and currently own a vintage derelict, I ended up looking at Cafe Racers.
Previously I was never a fan. As I understood it cafe racers were actually vintage race bikes. If you wanted a race bike or something that looked like it, buy one. Cutting yours down to look like something it wasn’t meant to be, seemed like a waste.
But now I’m enamored.
Above is my model bike converted to a cafe racer. Considering the tires, I’d call it a Rally style (or Brat?), but I’m still learning all the nuances.
I’ve been spending my evenings perusing the sites, images, kits, etc. for cafe racers and ones that are of my bike in particular.
Anyway. I don’t have the time now to ride my bike. Where would I find the time to do the work and ride?
There’s only so many hobbies/activities you can manage simultaneously.

ps. a couple of friends have actually started making the move to dirt/enduro bikes. Maybe that’s the route to take?
Despite the coping fiasco (another post), we got the pool closed. We had to wait this year until we completed the coping work we wanted to get done.
Took two weekends to do, between birthday parties and other obligations. That’s usually how it works this time of year and that’s ok.
The girls were actually a big help this year.
Mom was off doing various things for the fall consignment sales she’s apart of, so the girls and I got down to getting it closed.
Until next year.

The afternoon after Daddy Daughter camping.
Keeping an eye on Abigail as she plays with the fire we had in our own yard that day.
Yeah. I still need to upload all the pictures from camping…

Too early yesterday morning after not enough sleep the girls clamored into bed. One wanted to get up. The other wanted more room.
I just wanted to sleep.
Not having any of that in my own bed, I stormed out looking for a bed where I could get some peace.
Abigail’s was the first I came to. It’s a toddler bed full of stuffed animals.
Curled up just right I passed out for another hour and a half.
That’s better.
Now we can start the day.

Got all our gear tuned and leased.
Of course Abigail’s excited to try snowboarding this year.
The deal was she could try snowboarding once she comfortably skied all the blue (intermediate) slopes at Bear Creek. Since she’s done that and an expert slope, she gets to try snowboarding.
Though obviously most of the excitement is mine, because all the kids really care about are the kittens at the ski shop.

Abigail accidentally poked me in the eye and broke a blood vessel a few weeks ago.
Her reaction was priceless. I could feel there was something and figured it was a broken blood vessel. As she stepped away with a frightened and surprised look on her face, I asked if there was a red spot now that wasn’t there before.
She just nodded yes.
I told her it was a broken blood vessel and it would be fine. Didn’t hurt that much, but she was obviously freaked out by causing such visible damage.
The reactions at work were pretty good too.
Like nobodies seen a broken blood vessel before.
It was gone in a few days.
It’s all good now.

I got all the new siding, trim and flashing on. Might be some tweaks here and there, and definitely paint next spring.
One interesting thing about the trim is that I used treated 1’x4’s. What happens to treated lumber once it’s been outside for a week or so?
It shrinks.
Oh well. Close enough. It’s only a pool shed, and still way better looking than before.
