To Cafe or Not To Cafe

For whatever reason I’ve really been wanting something “new” in my life.

Call it mid-life crisis or just over-worked, but I’ve had this overwhelming desire to make something or just have something new.

Considering I have a history with motorcycles and currently own a vintage derelict, I ended up looking at Cafe Racers.

Previously I was never a fan. As I understood it cafe racers were actually vintage race bikes. If you wanted a race bike or something that looked like it, buy one. Cutting yours down to look like something it wasn’t meant to be, seemed like a waste.

But now I’m enamored.

Above is my model bike converted to a cafe racer. Considering the tires, I’d call it a Rally style (or Brat?), but I’m still learning all the nuances.

I’ve been spending my evenings perusing the sites, images, kits, etc. for cafe racers and ones that are of my bike in particular.

Anyway. I don’t have the time now to ride my bike. Where would I find the time to do the work and ride?

There’s only so many hobbies/activities you can manage simultaneously.

ps. a couple of friends have actually started making the move to dirt/enduro bikes. Maybe that’s the route to take?
