Dirt Biking Vs. Climbing

Haven’t climbed outside (and barely inside) at all this year.

Dirt biking has obviously taken over.

Besides being fun as hell, why is that?

I always enjoyed climbing. I love being outdoors, and the problem solving required by climbing is what has always kept me interested.

Unfortunately as my job gets more consuming, I have less capacity or struggle more with that problem solving.

Not that there isn’t a cerebral aspect to dirt biking, but there isn’t the fear of being 200′ off the ground to manage as well.

After a ridiculous week of traveling and/or meetings, having to get my brain into gear for a climbing day often proved more stressful than the relaxation I needed.

On a dirt bike there is rarely any fear to deal with. Also we can choose stupid simple dirt roads to ride in the event I’m still too consumed for technical logs and rocks. In climbing, there’s rarely anything stupid simple.
