The Current Program

Yeah. 10 days since the last post.

I realized this week – in trying to remember when the last time was we did a particular thing – that I need to keep this up for historical sake. There’s so much, yet so little going on it all gets lost.

Probably not going to be a very interesting post for most, but something I’ll appreciate 5 years from now when I wonder what happened in the spring of 2013.

So here’s how it’s all going down. If you’ve been paying attention to the calendar, you might have an idea.

First off – works been busier than before, so little to no posting/updates.

Our weeks are split between very distinct week/weekend schedules. During the week it goes like this:

Week

  • get up
  • get ready for work and/or get Abigail ready for school
  • go to work and/or school
  • pick up Abigail from school go back to work
  • get home from work
  • have dinner
  • clean up dinner, play with kids for a (very) short while
  • start bedtime routine
  • get kids to bed
  • have roughly an hour and a half to ourselves before we go to bed.

Day in and day out it’s nearly the same. It’s so routine I’m almost marking time by the number of dog food bags I go through.

Only slight changes are Jen at the boxing gym Mon, Wed, and Fridays. She gets home around 6:45, which means I’ve got dinner detail with the girls. Was rough at first, but things go rather smoothly now. Jen’s boxing/fitness is really going well. I’m glad she can get out and do something on her own for herself. It’s a nice break for her after 3 years of infant rearing.

I get out on Wednesday nights after she gets home. I was trying to ride/hit the bar, but realize now my efforts/money are better spent in the rock gym. I don’t have the time to commit to riding to get to any level close to where my friends are, which is above and beyond just fitness. For fitness, I’ve been trying to get out at lunch for quick rides. For climbing I’m hitting the gym and/or the crag (which Jen probably considers more expense than exercise). Considering my goals for winter climbing (a whole other post on its own), that’s certainly my focus.

Weekend Saturday

  • get up
  • get the girls ready for Spanish class. Both Abigail and Lauren are going now. I think Lauren will be speaking more Spanish before Abigail.
  • While the girls and mom are gone, I try to get in some climbing somewhere
  • Everyone home, eat lunch, go down for naps.
  • While girls are napping get done whatever needs doing around the house and yard. Being spring time that’s meant picking up sticks, weeding, spreading mulch, getting deck furniture out, etc.
  • After nap we play
  • then dinner
  • then cleanup
  • bedtime routine
  • have roughly an hour and a half to ourselves.

Weekend Sunday

  • get up
  • have breakfast/play
  • go to swim class. Abigail starts her solo class next week. We’re so excited.
  • eat lunch
  • down for naps
  • After nap we play
  • then dinner
  • then cleanup
  • bedtime routine
  • have roughly an hour and a half to ourselves.

Week in and week out.

Not a complaint. Simply what’s happening and how often.

Besides some bouts with colds, Lauren is sleeping better. It’s been Abigail lately that gets up the most or ends up in our bed, so sleeping is still not regular or consistent for us.

Lauren is walking, running, climbing all over the place. She loves to explore, swing (really likes swinging) and doing anything her big sister can do. She has some words like “bye, bye”, “dip”, “more”, “Daddy”, and “Momma”. She also through out an “agua” the other day.

Abigail is straight up 3 year old. Trying to get everything she wants, eating toothpaste, biting bars of soap and struggling to finish her dinner. Not that she won’t eat what’s on her plate. She just doesn’t want to eat.

I think that’s it as of late.

Hopefully I’ll post as things change, grow, etc.
