Water Everywhere

Wednesday night, March 9th, it started raining. It rained for about 24hrs until Thursday night March 10th. In that period of time I think we got about 4″ on top of the already over saturated ground.

Thursday evening we noticed the tell-tale signs of a lot of water in our basement and garage.

Eh. No big deal. We’ve been through this before.

But wait. Something was different. We were also getting water in places we hadn’t (noticed) before.

That’s bad.

By Friday morning it was almost everywhere. I then spent the rest of Friday cleaning it up

and ripping shit out.

The one good thing about all this rain, is there’s plenty of water to paddle the rarely paddle-able east branch of the Brandywine.

After helping me move furniture and rip out carpet for most of the afternoon yesterday, Mark was gracious enough to accompany me on a nervous trek down the turbid waters of the East Brandywine (Reed rd. – Harmony Hill rd.) this morning. There were some hairy moments near the beginning. The worst was right after this shot was taken. Neither of us were paying attention when we slammed head on into a semi-submerged rock. We survived and it was fun. Can’t wait till the next storm comes along. (water level at the gauge Sat. morning was just under 5′)

Now that all my carpet is ripped out of the basement, I’ve got nothing to lose.
