Seven Springs kicked my ass!

Not exactly. I fell in the beginning of my second lap. I blame it on the
Sport Beans . I fell hard on some
rocks. Lost a minute on my lap just standing there recovering.

I finished the lap, took some pills and slept for two hours (on my side).

Busted out two more laps after that - six minutes faster then the crash lap. It looks worse then it feels,
though I still can't sleep on my back. (9/4/06)

My Demise .

Burnedout
Stressedout
Over trained
Done

Looking forward to fast cool nights with lights (8/27/06).

I took this photo a couple of weeks ago and damn it if I don't have anything witty to say.

What is it?  Read about it
here . I have five or six of them living along my front sidewalk. Every day is a
nature lesson out our front door (8/18/06).

I'm finally a member of the cracked frame club!  I guess 1,000 miles in five months will do that. So  I go
from riding
this to riding this till the new frame comes in (8/15/06).

We had a little pool party last weekend (8/5/06) with some friends.  This is Josh and Jacob hanging out
after some pool time.

Nice to have folks over and hang out.

So at 5:30pm today (8/3/06), the thermometer said this.

What did I do? Jumped on my bike and did the Thursday night ride that started at 6pm.
When I got home at 8:15, the thermometer read only 10 degrees cooler. I think I spent as much time in
the pool after the ride as I did on the bike.

I wrote a big long race recap for the 101. Maybe I'll get it up here in some fashion soon.

Butterfly bushes actually attract butterflies!

Did the
Wilderness 101 7/29/06. That's 101 miles on a mountain bike in the mountains south and east of
State College, PA.

Took me 10 1/2 sweltering hot hours to do it on my single speed. The last 40 were the hardest/slowest.

Couldn't have done it without
this.

I'm tired.

BIG storm blew through Tuesday night (7/18/06). Before the rain, lightening and thunder, the power went
out. We went to bed with no power. Woke up Wednesday with no power. When I say no power, I mean no
water either. My office was closed, Jen went to work. Word starts trickeling in that power may be restored
Thursday by 8pm. If not then, the weekend.

It's hot out. Way hot. So I clean up the storm destruction that is our yard. Lost count the number of
wheelborrows I filled up with debris.

Fired up the generator (after some carberator tlc) to keep the freezer running.

Finally around 11pm Wednesday the power comes back on.

Got Crabs?

The rents came up this weekend (7/8/09) so we could go down to Chesapeak City, MD for some crabs.
They hadn't had crabs since they moved away fourteen years ago. This years batch were really tasty and
quite large.

It took 44 pictures to get this one shot. I figured that was worth throwing up another picture for this week
(6/29/06).

Headed to Marysville tomorrow for the Mt. Bike Festival weekend doohicky. I'm only doing the night time
trial and XC race. Skipping out of the short track and hill climb events to party at a friends house.  The XC
race will actually be my shortest race for the month of July at a whopping 28 miles. Tuff month. I'll have to
start shaving my legs twice a day to keep up with the manliness.

Genius statement of the day: "Did you know the largest importer to the US from China is Wal-Mart?"
Wonder how long it will take this Einstein to realize his hour long dirve to work is facilitating the melting of
the worlds glaciers?

W = wanker.
Yeah so i got my blog on tonight.

Went up to Jim Thorpe 6/25/06 to ride in the rain. Figured if it was going to rain four days straight, might
as well ride. Jim Thorpe's so gnarly. I love the shredded tire edges. It was a big ride with a big crew.
Read more about it
here.

We woke up this morning 6/17/06 to this right outside our kitchen window. It was pretty cool. They landed
in the park behind our house. I'll have to put a page together of it. Look for that sometime in October
maybe.

June 3rd my friend
Chris married his fiancee Lesley. It was a small affair. A few of us from the team went
and had a great time.

Pool's Open! We had a little get together among friends for Memorial Day (5/29/06). The pool was quite
refreshing.

Our cat hasn't made it into the spotlight very often on this sight, but this weekend 5/23/06 she was doing
such an excellant job supervising the chores we thought we'd give her a little focus.

Officially the MTB race season has started for me. Last weekend (5/13/06) I did my first Expert level race
and finished a respectable 8th out of 16 (I was the only one on a single speed in my class). I have another
race this coming weekend, then I'm off for a few weeks.

Work has started and almost finished on our cracked and bowed garage wall (5/8/06) .  The guys from
Keystone Foundation are doing a great job!

Spring is still springing and we're still busy with outdoor projects.
This week (5/1/06) we started opening the pool. Hopefully we'll be swimming soon.

Spring has sprung and we're busy with outdoor projects.  Nothing too crazy. Just your normal spring yard
work.
If you wait a second, the picture below will change. 4/18/06

"Here's mud in your eye."

April 8, 2006 a few of us from the team went to Andover, NJ for a race called the Running of the Dogs.
Unlike other races where you're given a certain number of laps to complete the fastest, this one gave us
certain blocks of time in which to complete the most number of laps. Experts had four hours.
Sport/Single Speed had three and beginner had two. I did the Single Speed class and got five laps in in
three hours. Laps were a little over five miles. I'm told I got third, but that hasn't been confirmed. The
hardest part about this race was the weather. The temperature averaged 35 degress. It rained, snowed
and sleeted on us the entire time.

"Secret Squirrel Training"

Last night (Wednesday March 22, 2006) I did the Wednesday night ride for the first time since
Dec. 7, 2005. Miraculously I was not only able to keep up, but even lead some sections. The guys said I
had been doing some secret squirrel training over the winter. If that's the case, this would be my secret
squirrel. Since moving in a month ago, I've been commuting to work 2 o 3 times a week on this. And yes
it's uphill both ways.

My Dad had eye surgery March 14, 06 to repair a scar from the last eye surgery he had. Yesterday when
I called he was still in a post operative haze. Today when I received this picture from him I wonder if he's
still not suffering from an anesthesia flashback.

For those of you a little confused (not you Dad), he's a pirate using Woodstock as his parrot.

It's a thing of beauty.

Saturday afternoon (3/4/06) I decided I didn't have enough beer and went to Victory to get more. You know
how you shouldn't go grocery shopping when you're hungry?  Well you shouldn't go to the micro brewery
when you're thirsty. I ended up buying a case of Storm King, a bottle of Saison and this nifty bottle
opener. Though it wasn't until I got home I fully realized the potential of this bottle opener.

Positioned perfectly over this little bucket, the bottle caps snap off and drop straight down. It's beautiful.
It makes drinking fun again. It's a game I can play over and over.

Behold the "Receptacle of Death!"  If you look close at the bottom plug, you'll see some discoloration. I
think that's death seeping out. (3/2/06)

So what is it that makes this particular receptacle so deathly? Have I been shocked? Does it spark?
Does it even work?

Last week I bent down to pick something up off the floor  in the room in which this receptacle is located.
As I got close to the floor I got a wiff of something bad - something very bad like death. Knowing the wall
this receptacle is located in has had issues with death in the past (that's another story entirely), I leaned
in closer for another wiff and death knocked me on my ass.

Behind this receptacle - in this wall there is death. Old death. How many lives lost, I cannot say. When
I'll get the courage to rectify the situation is anyones guess.

The day we closed on our new house, it snowed nine inches. Three days before we move in (Feb. 12,
2006, it snows twelve inches. Since Dec. 9th (the day we closed) it hasn't snowed at all.

Why me?

So you've been keeping track of our progress and want to come visit after we move in. You're probably
wondering where our house is located.

It's easy. It's right down the street from the Live Bait vending machine. That's right. Find the Live Bait
vending machine and we're right down the road. Pick up some bait and stop on by (2/1/06).

So we buy a house and three days later find out we need a new roof. Now the week of January 22, 2006,
we find out we need a new furnace.  So far I'm not really seeing the benefits of owning over renting...

The little black circle laying there is an eye piece that's supposed to fit in the hole below it to protect and
view the combustion chamber. When you put it in place and put the cover back on, the furnace quits
running.

A new roof! The roofing guys started on our roof Monday Jan. 16, 2006. They came back Thursday after
the rain to finish it.

For the week of January 8th, this was my work area. We replaced the exhaust fan in the master bath,
replaced the recessed light in the master bath and added an exhaust fan to the main bathroom. I have at
least another weeks work up here to add the necessary duct work, add a fan to the kitchen and replace its
recessed lights.
