The Downingtown MTB group put this great connector trail in at Marsh Creek.
Forty two residences, seventy barns and
535 acres lay drowned behind this dam, or so I've been
told.
A peek into the drain. I don't like
lots of water, but even Jen was a little freaked out by
this.
We were standing on the top
of the thing above and behind CJ peering down through the
grate.
Looking back across the lake to a lone
sail boat. We hiked all the way around the left side from
beyond the
boat.
Jen decided the dogs needed more time, so
we looped around the Sole trail (at the end of the dam and
through the woods to the right) before heading
back.
Here's the spillway in case the drain
isn't quite
enough.
An old hearth at the bottom of the Sole
trail.
The dogs taking a
drink break while heading back around
. You can see a
few more boats in the
distance.
A conversation about Schlitz came up
earlier this week (they're going to reproduce it). I thought
it was interesting to find an old can of that famous
taste.
