I have to admit, they freak me out a little.
It's quite common in the Hindu religion and I see it frequently, but it still freaks me out a little. Funny how one can be so indoctrinated with a single belief or teaching.

Are you sure they are hindu symbols? I always understood them to be Buddist. Saw lots of them in Taiwan. While I have never compared the two side by side, I was told that the Nazi's took the [religious] symbol, flipped it, and turned it 45 degrees. Supposedly the arms/legs of the symbol go opposite ways. Dunno
