Pool Project Progress

My Dad arrived Thursday night in preparation for a 4 day weekend of working on the pool deck.

Then I got sick.

Real sick.

Couldn’t get out of bed sick.

My Dad and Jen forged ahead in the searing heat anyway.

There was still a lot of clean up/prep to do.

Then I got some antibiotics and was actually able to get out Saturday and help.

Jeff came over and helped a while too.

And when it got too hot there was swimming.

So three days in and the new decking material still remains stacked by the driveway. Why’s that?

Ever pick up a piece of Trex? It’s extremely pliable. It takes the shape of whatever you lay it over. Lay it over a nearly 20 year old deck frame and it’s going to look like it’s laying over a 20 year old deck frame.

This we did not know before we made the non-returnable special order to purchase it. What we knew was that it was near zero maintenance and guaranteed for 25 years. Sounded perfect for poolside. Not so perfect for a near 20 year old pool deck frame.

So we’ve been shoring it up and attempting to level everything to the best of our abilities. It’s a tedious process for 500 sq/ft of decking.

Hopefully tomorrow the fruits of our labor will start to pay off and we’ll get some of it down.

As long as the supervisors say  it’s ok.
