Bonus Loop
Couple of weeks ago I set up my mountain bike for the girls trail-a-bike to tool around the yard.
They liked it so much I got it in my head that we should try it on the Bonus Loop at Marsh Creek.
First up was Lauren yesterday. She said it was bumpy. Maybe a little too bumpy. I had told her when it got bumpy or if I warned her of a bump to stand up on the peddles and let the bike bump over the roots, logs and rocks. Problem is I failed to tell her to stand up with the peddles evenly balanced front to back, so she hit a few things. Halfway through the loop she decided she’d had enough and we headed home.
Today was Abigail’s turn. Learning from yesterdays peddle snafu I made sure to tell her just how to stand on the peddles. Turns out it doesn’t really matter. They (either daughter and/or the peddles) get bumped around anyway, hit the ground, slip, fall etc., but Abigail was a trooper. She had fun anyway and decided to do the entire bonus loop – including the creek crossing and climbing up to the top of the dam.
Fun as it was not sure how much we’ll do it again. It’s damn hard dragging 40 lbs of weight around behind you.
