More Ice Climbing

Last Monday, in the snow storm, Craig and I headed up to Jim Thorpe to climb the Glen Onoko falls area with Bob Perna and his crew.

The drive that should normally take an hour and twenty minutes, took three hours while six – ten inches of snow fell on the area.

Despite the travel conditions, we had an awesome time.

Perna (on the ice on the right) is a bit of a local climbing celebrity. It was definitely cool to finally get out and climb with him.

We climbed both the lower and upper areas, with Perna leading and setting all the routes for us.

The day wasn’t without a few accidents.

I had a chunk of ice hit the bridge of my nose while climbing. Perna even managed to fall while leading.

When the day was done and we’d made it back to the cars to drink some beers and celebrate our adventure, these kayakers walked up from the river after finishing a 12 mile run that day.

So much for thinking we were cool.
