The Birth Plan
Of course the desired birth plan is to have the baby with a midwife at The Birth Center.
The contingency plan or current efforts are as follows:
Yesterday the midwife “swept her membranes”. I’ll leave it up to you to google that one. The hope was to cause contractions within 24 hrs. The little research I did said that wasn’t likely. They also performed a “non-stress test” on the baby. Everything was fine.
Today Jen’s getting an ultrasound of sorts. They’re checking the fluids or something.
Tomorrow she has another appointment with the midwife and another “non-stress test”.
If by Thursday there’s no labor, she gets castor oil.
If by Sunday there’s no labor, labor will be induced at the hospital via Pitocin. Not the birth experience Jen wants, but it will be administered by the midwife who will also carry out the birth.

Thinking of you guys! The doctor actually swept my membranes too and I went into labor 6 hours later. Sorry it didn’t work for Jen, I know how uncomfortable it was. But glad to hear the non-stress test showed everything was ok. Sending natural labor thoughts your way. Come on baby!!
