Yesterday – No Good
Started in the attic trying to finish the fans before it gets too hot.
All I had left was installing the bracket for the second bedroom and running the wire. From this picture it loos like I accomplished that.
I did not.
When I ran the wire down into the wall it got stuck on the old electric heat control (buried/hidden within the wall). When I pulled the wire back out to try again, it got stuck and tore the outer cover, so that project was done until I could get more wire and the next morning when it will be cool again.
I’ll have to drill another hole in the top of the wall – one that doesn’t send the wire directly down into the electric heat control mess.
After the wiring fiasco it was Abigail time while Mom napped. Abigail was supposed to be napping and I was supposed to be reorganizing the detached garage, but she did not, so nor did I. Instead we played a little in the driveway and garage until she saw my bike with the kid carrier on it. On went the helmets and we took a spin through the park.
After lunch I got to the yard. After almost a solid week of rain, most of the yard went without cutting for nearly two weeks. That means two things – bagging while cutting (more work – takes longer) and not being able to cut half of it still because it’s still wet.
As you can see my neighbor tried cutting his, but it didn’t come out so well. He was even using a push mower, so you can imagine what my tractor would do.
In the middle of that somewhere Abigail did take a nap and I stopped cutting or moved cutting to some other part of the yard. Either way there’s still some unfinished grass yet this morning.
While out and about in the yard, I decided to at least move my downed limbs from the winter to the pile I created from the Mother-in-laws.
Now I have this huge pile (really, it’s huge. bigger than jen’s car) that still needs sorting, cutting and moved to the street for the township to pick up. They only take limbs of certain sizes and thickness. I have yet to make that distinction and have no idea when I will. Coincidentally, the bit of my yard where I pile this stuff for the township to pick up has an old flower bed I also need to dig up and replace with grass. Ever since the township plowed it over 2 winters ago (they have right of way), it’s never been the same and should be “fixed”. Not sure when that will happen either. The only thing that could make that flower bed worse looking is if I sat an broken down appliance out next to it or maybe used an old toilet as a planter. It’s really that ugly.
So while stumbling about the yard doing and accounting for all that needs doing, I came across this.
There are two little pine shrubs in our pool area being devoured by these little worms. The list of stuff to do is so bad I don’t know if/when I’d be able to get some pesticides to try and stop the buggers. Instead it seems more feasible to let them do their thing, then rip out what’s left later in the summer if I get time. Of course that’s assuming I ever get around to opening the pool and cleaning up that area anyway. As it is now when you step through the pool area gate it’s like stepping into the Land of the Lost.
And forget finishing the siding around the boat racks, cleaning the siding elsewhere or the ever more obvious painting the house project.
How the hell I had more time for any of this when I had more time for recreation (of which I have none now) is beyond me.
