There were some snow flurries coming
down, but didn't show up in the
picture.

We did the "long hike" at Marsh Creek out
and around the quarry. There's an old railroad bed that used
to service the quarry. This was some kind of structure
along the old railroad bed at the
quarry
entrance.

|
|
Though it looks like some kind of mine
shaft, I think it was more of an earthen shed of some
kind. The picture we're missing is the one of the go-kart
races going on behind us across the creek. There's a small
paved track where people race their own private souped up
go-karts.
|
|
|
This is the other side of the quarry. The
earthen shed and go-kart track are at the opposite (low) side
from here. "They" actually drained this quarry a few
years back. I'm amazed it's full again.
CJ
actually started making his way down the cliff face. It
was pretty nuts. Obviously it wasn't sheer, but I certainly
wasn't going after him if something happened. Luckily he
decided against any further decent and returned to the top
where we
were.

Along the way there are these cool ruins
from some farm long long ago. This was a window in one of the
barn walls looking across to the opposite
wall.
|
|
|
The barn was a
Pennsylvania Barn. This is one of at
least 4 pillars that held up the forebay.
|
|
|
The arrows
point out some of the other pillars. The barn in this picture was probably very
similar. I say was, because it looks like the middle pillars
have been replaced by
wood.
|
|
|
This was
the house. It's about a fifty yards from the barn. The
pictures don't do it justice. It has fireplaces at either end
and opposing each other. Not sure what that arched thing was
in what appears to be the
basement.

|
|
This fireplace is on the wall opposite of
the one
above.
