Once the nail holes were all filled, my Mom began taping and painting.

Door #2. My Dad admires his handy-work. Being solid wood doors, they require three hinges. The top and bottom hinges could be added using the original door as a template. The third (middle) hinge was simply cut in the middle of the door, then cut into the jam once the first and second were hung.

Looking at this photo, I kind of wish we stained the doors, but that would have been too much. It's bad enough our walls actually have color, but to show so much contrast between the walls, trim doors and floor would never fly if and when it comes time to sell.

Jen got tired of working downstairs in the dark, so my Dad and I hooked her up with some light. .

My Dad working on another door. I told him he was like a door troll with his little cave-like area in the downstairs hallway.

I guess this was Saturday. We decided to hold off on some doors and get the kitchen windows finished. Neither of the two windows we had put in a few years back had window sills. We had to make them ourselves. First my Dad had to clear away some "material" to get the sill to fit. Made me a little nervous watching him dig into our windows with a chisel.

But the sill fit nicely. With a little paint and caulk, you'll never see the "fitting" areas.

With the sill in, the casing went up quickly.

Almost looks professional.

Jen got right to taping it, so she could get it painted.
