This is just a cool shot of one of the corners.

Both the doors and the walls trimmed out .

Coping the shoe round. Everyone says this is the key to making tight corners, but I'm not getting it or at least I'm not coping well enough yet. Basically you're supposed to manually cut out the profile of the opposite wall/piece so they overlap, fit tighter and resist expansion. I've also been told it's supposed to be quicker then mitering the joint. So far I haven't seen the positives. I'm sure by the time I cope all the necessary joints for each of the rooms in the house, I'll have it down.

4/5/07 Preparing for paint. Nailing leaves little divits in the face. After filling the divits with filler, they're sanded smooth and everything is painted.

4/15/07 Final step before paint, of course, is the tape.

Jen putting on the first coat of the paint.

4/18/07 With the trim painted it was time to try a door. We're replacing all the fake hollow-core doors with real wood. They're nice and heavy. Like everything in this project, the doors are labor intensive. I have to chisel out the hinges, add a third hinge, plane the door to fit and cut the holes for the handle and lock. Once all that's done, Jen can prime and paint.

4/18/07 Also tackled the gaping hole in our living room, eat-in kitchen area. We expanded this opening by two feet when we bought the house. Since then, the opening has been two by fours and rough cut drywall. Finally deciding how to finish all our trim (stain or paint) allowed me to get a primed jam and throw up our trim. This is just the beginning for the kitchen. We've got all kinds of plans.

8/19/07 While I'm in India Jen plans to prime a bunch of the trim, so I had to rip the 1/8" off the inner casings we had in stock. When I get back it will all be primed and I'll have no excuse to get it all installed.

8/25/07 In preparation for a week long push to get as much trim up as possible before I go away, Jen started priming our stockpile of inner and outer casings.
