The Shearer

Since going to the Sheep & Wool festival last weekend, Abigail’s been obsessed with sheep shearing.

It’s been everything from watching sheep shearing videos to running around naked saying she’s shorn.

On top of that she got a little toy last week at Chuck E Cheese she says is her shearer. She chases Gretchen around the house trying to shear her with it.

Here, while combing her hair, she shows Mommy the proper chin holding technique while shearing.

First Why

Abigail asked why her Sit & Spin worked.

Upon explaining it, she asked “why” again.

oh boy.

Ebb & Flow

Jen’s fears that Abigail totally hated her have completely reversed. Jen is now Abigail’s favorite and she’s got her hands (arms actually) full between the two of them.

Me. I’m kind of left out in the cold. It’s not too bad. Work has gotten busier lately, so I’m able to get a few more things done.

It won’t be long and the tide will swing back the other way.

102%

Preliminary calculations say we produced more electricity this month than we consumed.

That’s a first for us.

It’ll be interesting to see how that plays out in our bill. I’m guessing they carry the extra 25kWw hours forward to next month.

Type III PFD Tests

Got some new PFDs for when the girls are > 30#.

Had to run some tests. One test actually. Insure they can be yanked out of the drink by the back.

I think they’ll work.

Easter pictures are up.

At Odds

It blows my mind how one little baby can wave off so much sleep while her two parents so desperately want nothing but sleep.

I guess her new awareness of life overpowers any physical requirement to rest.

Update on the Girls

Abigail’s ready to come home. She’s being a trooper and making the best of her time at Grandmas, but I can tell she’d rather be home.

Lauren, who appears pretty healthy (besides a random cough, but as I remember Abigail had a random cough throughout her infancy as well), is not sleeping – at all. She’s recently gained the ability to grab things and basically play with them. I’ve read an infants lack of willingness to sleep can be associated with new abilities like rolling over and sitting up. I’d say this new ability to physically reach out and impact her world has got her pretty excited. There might also be a bit of Mommy separation anxiety. As Jen flutters about the house, Lauren’s head is locked on like radar following her from room to room. If she doesn’t reappear in a comfortable amount of time, she gets a little fussy.

Fun times. Hopefully we get through it quickly.

In the Mud

Abigail riding her balance bike in the rain. You can see for a brief moment she actually coasts a little.

Much Ado…

Lauren’s test came back negative.

At first the Dr. said we’re all free and clear. We can stop taking our anti-biotics and bring Abigail home.

Then we asked “what about the 5 – 21 day incubation period?”

“Hmmm”, the Dr. tacitly replied.

We decided since Jen submitted mucous samples (from the back of her throat – through her nose) today, we’d wait the three days for her results before we bring Abigail home. Jen and Lauren would finish their anti-biotics, but Abigail and I could stop.

It’s better safe than sorry.

Though if Lauren didn’t get it, but Jen did Lauren certainly will.

See how difficult this has been?

Anyway, I went over to Grandmas tonight to check on Abigail. She’s having a blast.

See more here.

You can also see how happy Lauren was to stay home with me today here.
