Strippn’ Ain’t Easy

Go my frame today.

Then promptly covered it in goo.

and scraped all the paint off.

These shots were actually taken over two stripping sessions. By the looks of it, I have at least one more. I’d done this years ago (17 I think) to the frame that is now my commuter (all weather commuter actually), but it was steal and I quickly had it powder coated. Since this is aluminum, the plan is to just get the paint off, then sand to a nice sheen.

A friend had done something similar to his Cannondale frame in college, but he paid to have it stripped. We actually went to the Grove Innovations shop and had them do it. Then my friend did all the sanding.

I figure this way when the thing does crack, it will be easier to see and fix.
