Progress Progress

The contractor has started making progress. They got the new siding up on the front of the house while the weather was good.

I think it looks really sharp. Makes me wonder why we didn’t do it sooner.

Then they moved inside and started doing some prep work with lights downstairs and the master bath that we’ve have torn up since we moved in.

The biggest gotcha so far is the drop ceiling downstairs. We were planning to replace the tiles with newer/whiter tiles, but come to find out our size is non-standard. Quick measurement and quote for a drywall ceiling and that’s the path forward.

The bathroom we’re adding downstairs had a nice ripple effect on space allocations. Because it displaces the majority of our storage

and Jen wants a cleaner more staged appearance for showing the house, we went ahead and got a storage unit and moved a whole bunch of stuff around.

Basically it all went from the basement to storage, the garage, or

the garage attic depending on when we planned to need it again.

Needless to say there was a lot of sorting, packing, moving, loading, hauling, carrying and stacking going on this weekend. At least now I feel like the move will be a lot easier when it happens. We’ve basically done the “heavy lifting” already.

Of course there were a number of trips to Goodwill as well. I’m still astounded by how much we’ve purged, and yet still have.

The rough schedule is as follows:

Finish the master bath this week
Take down the existing drop ceiling this weekend
Start and finish main bathroom next week
Start the new bathroom next week
Ceiling, walls, and floors downstairs beginning the week of the 19th
