Leave No One Behind

Have had the worst in house mouse problem this winter in years.

I’m guessing it was the unseasonably cold February.

So I’ve set a couple of traps and caught a couple of the buggers, but something interesting takes place each time.

Take last night for example.

I set three traps. This morning after getting up I checked quickly to see if they worked. Of the three one was triggered (and dead). One was missing, and one had not tripped. Not having the time at that moment to clean up the triggered one, nor look for the missing one I headed back upstairs to finish breakfast. Once the kids were gone I headed down to clean the triggered one.

Now it was gone.

Though not completely. Turns out it had only been moved further behind the water equipment (about 2′).

What the?

The guy in the trap was clearly dead. It’s not like he was trying to escape.

Only thing I can figure is there’s some kind of “leave no one behind” scenario taking place downstairs. Would explain the missing trap then too.

Of course I’ll have to take everything off the shelving to find it. Not like I can leave it M.I.A. either.

What a pain.
