Craig and I got out last week for some climbing.

Only one of the main routes (Weeping Wall) was in enough for us to climb.

We both had aspirations of leading it, but decided against it when we were reminded just how tall the wall is.

We did practice lead while on top rope. We tied a lead rope to ourselves and set screws along the way. After 3 or 4 times up, we were really surprised at how comfortable we had gotten, but by that time also too tired to actually try leading it.

Overall it was good to get out, but difficult for me considering how stressful the week had been. Work was crazy (or I let it make me crazy), and I had trouble getting my head in the right places to climb effectively. It’s nice to be able to get out and do the things you like and help with the stress, but being too stressed makes it difficult.

We’re heading to the ADK again this weekend for an attempt at the Trap Dike. Should be nice even if the ice is no good and turns out to be just a 10 mile snow hike.
