5.11s

When I was climbing 10 years ago, I got to the point where I was comfortably climbing 5.11s in the gym.

Climbing routes are rated on difficulty by a scale that starts roughly around 5.4 and goes up to about 5.15. If you want to get tricky you can add A, B, C, D… to the number and get really specific.

That’s what I was doing 10 years ago. When I started to get serious about it again this year, I honestly thought I’d never see 5.11s again. I just figured I was too old and/or unable to focus that much.

So here we are and guess what I’m climbing (top-rope) in the gym.

5.11s.

I shouldn’t sell myself short.

I should always continue to try harder and climb harder.

If it’s 5.11s in the gym, maybe I can lead 5.10s outside? Why not? I just have to keep trying.
