Puddles and Ice

Our upstairs window sills were full of puddles and ice this morning.

The humidity upstairs was around 41%. The temperature outside was 9° F, so like a cold Coke can in the summer heat our windows condensate and in some places that freezes a little.

It’s a real pain in the ass. Our windows are wood, so the water’s not good. We replaced all the vinyl windows that were there when we moved in thinking wood was better, but now I know. $5000 later I now know.

The whole house dehumidifier is on, but the air humidity downstairs hovers in the upper 20’s, so it doesn’t run. The HVAC fan is running, thus moving air throughout the house, but our returns are all floor level. The humidity is higher than that, so it never gets circulated and dried as it should.

blah, blah, blah. I need more sleep. I hate my house.

I cranked the dehumidifier to full blast before I left this morning. Can’t you hear the electric meter whirling?

Hopefully I go home to the Sahara tonight.

Don’t worry. At best I’ll see low 30’s for humidity in the house and that’s where most people try to get their houses to using their humidifiers.
