Noises

Abigail’s taken to being very conscious of noises she hears at night.

“Daddy. I hear noises. What are those noises?”

Usually followed by “The reindeer are coming! Daddy pick me up!”

Whatever the noises are (or if there are noises), it’s freaking her out a little.

She’s hit that stage where night time is a little scary.

So she started sleeping with her light on. Luckily it’s dimmable and turned down to the lowest setting, but it’s on. We had a nightlight, but it either wasn’t enough for her or too bright for us. Either way the nightlight didn’t work.

For a week or two she’s slept with the lights on.

Months ago we would have snuck in later and turned the lights off without incident. Lately with Abigail waking up and us being super sleep deprived from Lauren, we haven’t dared. It’s just not worth the risk of her waking up screaming in the dark and one of us having to get up yet again in a single night.

Luckily we may have found a solution.

Meet the Spoka

It’s a cute/simple night light from Ikea. It gives off enough light for her (and it’s cute), and not too much light for us.

So far so good.

On to the next toddler task.
