The Man Store

Went to Tractor Supply today for some parts for my trailer.

Shit.

If there’s a place men haveĀ  to go to “shop”, the only place should be Tractor Supply. They’ve got everything and only everything men should need – tools, parts, clothes, feed, and more tools and parts.

It’s like walking into a country music video where all the men wear jeans and boots and the women do too.

Next day edit. This should have been two posts. I could still do it, but figured this would better remind me to do it next time. I create or observe a lot of “people profiles”. This guy in the truck for example. It should have been separated from the nonsense and put into its own profile post.

As I was getting into my car to leave some guy in a big old F250 pulled in beside me. It wasn’t like these new F250’s all decked out in leather and faux plastic wood. This was an older, boxier, bigger F250. He turned to look down at me as he slowly hand cranked the window up. His head was shaven. His goatee huge and eyes covered by thick black sunglasses. The door opened as he slid his brown/buckled engineer boots down to the ground. Though gravity seemed to add a quickness to his movement, time ticked slowly by as he deliberately stepped down, around, and shut the door.

To say I felt a little inadequate in my cut-off Gap jeans, Crocks and Japanese station wagon would be an understatement.

Then I noticed something – something common between him and I.

He walked around the front of the truck to the passenger side. There he opened the door and helped his daughter out of her car seat. She was much older than Abigail, but she was his and he was taking her with him to Tractor Supply.

Then back to the nonsense.
Yeah, so I probably won’t be as big as he (my truck certainly isn’t), but I have no doubt (probably very soon) I’ll be taking my daughter to Tractor Supply too.

Maybe I should get some boots first?
