Summit Point, WV
April 15-16, 2000
My first weekend racing
was Easter weekend.
Here is a picture of our pits that race weekend. The
progression of our pits from the beginning of the season till the end
of 2001 is cool to see. For more, read the race
report.
What the picture
doesn't show is my truck blew the water pump on the trip down. At
this point I hadn't gotten anywhere near to fixing
it. |
|
Dave and I gassing up
our bikes for a race or practice. |
|
More bike
preparations. |
|
The first year of
racing Dave did everything out of his Jeep. He hauled the bike in
the back and got a rooftop soft carrier (basically a big bag) to
hold all his supplies and gear. |
|
Dave on pit lane
headed out for a race or practice. This was Dave's second weekend
racing. The week prior to this he raced and volunteered to corner
work all weekend. The corner working got me a discount for the
race school and track time I got this weekend. |

Here's
a picture of the race paddock at Summit Point. |
|
The next series of pictures are of me in my
first race. The blue t-shirt over my leathers is to let other
racers know I'm
a beginner. I'm the first t-shirted guy in this picture. |
|
Again the guy in
front. We're headed into turn five. |
|
Me all alone headed
around turn five. |
|
I spent all of
Saturday participating in the race school. This icluded a lot of
classroom instruction and time on the track. At the end we had a
mock race. If you crashed, you didn't get your license. I was
dead last in the race, but I got my license. Sunday I signed up
for one race, then spent the rest of the day working on my
truck. |
