 Daytona International Raceway Datyona Beach
March 1 - 3, 2001

Dave, me and daytona.

Dave bought a 6' x 12' enclosed trailer on saturday. After a few modifications it was ready for our trip to Daytona.
We left Tuesday night Feb. 27th and got there Wednesday morning around 10am. I think it was a 17 hour
non-stop trip. We signed in at the track, setup our pit area, got the bikes inspected and hit the beach for the afternoon.

Unfortunately driving all night wasn't enough to keep us from going out the first night. We had lucked out and got
a place right on the beach for the first two nights, so the temptation to hit the town was too great. I don't
remember where we went or what we really did, but I do know I didn't get enough sleep to go speeding around
Daytona. Here's an inside shot of Dave's new trailer.

The CCS Daytona event coincides with the first weekend of Bike Week, so there's all kinds of craziness going
on in Daytona at this time. This is the main gate outside the front of the track.

The last two nights we had to stay in Deltona, FL. It's about 30-40 minutes inland from Daytona. This is a
shot of ourpit area. There were a lot of regulations as to what you could and couldn't do at the track. They were
very strict about everyone leaving the track by a certain time everyday.

This is me in the infield at Daytona. The flag is half-mast because Dale Earnhardt died here two weeks prior
to our event.

Here's Dave's bike up on his work table.

We left Sunday morning and got home to Dave's late Sunday night, though we didn't quite make it. There was an
ice storm in progress in the Philly area and I got my truck stuck pulling his trailer up a hill in his neighborhood.
We called the police, but they said there wasn't anything they could do. We called a tow truck and went to sleep
waiting for them to show up. About 3am the police call and say the truck has to be moved. The tow truck we
called, never showed. We call another tow truck and the police get a salt truck to salt the hill. The tow truck
arrives, pulls me up the hill and charges me double because I had a trailer. Oh yeah, he only took cash.  With all the salt the plow laid down I probably could have driven up the hill. So I got home around 7am. Luckily work was
called off due to the storm and I could catch up on my sleep finally.
