Virginia International Raceway
April 13 - 15, 2001 Easter

First race of the regular season and the first race Jen went to.

VIR is an absolutely beautiful place to race, camp, and spend a weekend from home.

Here's a picture from last year when i worked the wall for the
ZDR 6hour endurance campaign.

Since it was Easter weekend, Dave brought an easter bunny along to celebrate the holiday with us.

Here's everyone busy in the pit. You'll notice the blender in the back. I think there were some margarita's
soon after the work was done.

Dave found this Yamaha YZ dirtbike he converted into a pit bike. He kind of went overboard with the
containers and storage, but it was pretty funny to go cruising around the pits on it. The exhaust was
way too loud and obnoxious. He sold the bike soon after this weekend.

Dave getting ready for his race.

Dave warming up his bike before his race. The 125s had to be manually warmed up before they could be
used. They are race specific machines, so they don't have things like idle control. Dave would sit for a few
minutes before every practice and race to idle the bike to the optimum temperature. If the bike wasn't at
the optimum temperature it would not perform as well or possibly blow the engine.

Dave and I both gridded for the same race.

This is me making the hard left hand turn of turn four. I actually got as high as second place in one of my
races, but ran out of gas a lap or so before the end of the race. Coincidently Jen ran the truck out of gas
driving home that night in the rain. In her defense it was the first time she had ever driven the truck (towing
a trailer too).

John Lemak was able to get out of work and make it down for racing on Sunday.
