May 4th the Spot Brand/Twin Six and DCCCofD (Delaware Cyclo Cross Coalition of Delaware) brothers and sisters converged on the Lodi farm in Fredricksburg, VA for the annual Twelve Hours of Lodi. Not just another twelve hour, this race starts at Midnight and runs till noon on Sunday. Yeah. It's tough. We showed up Saturday afternoon under threatening skies to setup the compound.

For teams we had Marc, Matt and I on a three man singlespeed team, Paul, Jan and Ethan on a three man team, and Diane and Amy on a
duo women's team. Our three soloists were Rob, Blair (training for the 300 mile Red Ass in Manitoba) and Fitzy. Running the show were Tom
and Ethan's girlfriend Meghan.

The beginnings of a compound. Before the race would start, we'd have walls, generators, lights and heaters to keep us going through the
night.

With a lot of people having two bikes (just in case), we had a lot of bikes to ride that night.

When I wasn't racing or trying to stuff food into myself, I'd try and grab some sleep in the back of my car. I guess I got an hour or so through
the entire night.

Threatening skys made good on their word and started to rain. The rain would continue till just about the beginning of the race at midnight.
That left the course mostly slick with a few really soft (muddy) sections. The off-camber roots became particularly fun.

Matt preparing our pasta feast. We actually had an area of the compound sectioned off as a dining area. It was very nice.

After dinner some people tried to get some sleep.

So a lot of people tried to get some sleep.

I wasn't so tired, so I sat up suffering the torture of waiting.
