Here we are driving down the Salt Creek trail.
The trail is basically the stream bed as you'll see
below.

Some rock features
along the Salt Creek
Trail.

Here's where the creek
bed actually became a creek, though no problem for the
Rover.

This area obviously
has more water, so it can support more green things. That's why it
was a popular area for the
Indians.
|
|
This was called Pual
Bunyons Potty. Basically an alcove was carved into the rock by the
wind, then the top was carved out to create this "potty"
feature. We saw another similar to this, but it was much
smaller.

Here's a close up of
what's called the Tower Ruins. They're located half-way up the
rock face and overlook the Salt Creek valley below. They're
called Tower Ruins, because there's a natural rock tower
(needle) located near to
them..

|
Here's another shot a
little farther away. You can see they needed ladders to make the
last climb to the ruins. It was fairly easy climbing to
the area I took the picture
from.

A nice cactus growing
near the Tower Ruins.

This ancient Indian
painting is called 13 faces, though we only counted 10. Sorry you
can only see 8.

|
I liked the handprint
to the lower right of this one. I guess it's like the artists
signature. At least I thought it personalized the
piece.
