For
Thanksgiving Jen and I went to my parents place in Alderson, Wv. We
had a extra dinning room table and chairs we wanted to return to
them, and Thanksgiving was the perfect time to do
so. Currently my parents have two places in Alderson. In the
picture below is my Grandmothers house, which my parents have had
since she passed away. For the past year or so they've been
debating expanding their current place. A few months ago the
place across the street went up for auction. It was a bigger place
and fit their second retirement needs better, so they bought it. For
the past couple of weeks my mom has been painting and cleaning the
new place, but there's more
about that
below.

Jen and I arrived Thursday
evening just in time to carve the turkey and have Thanksgiving dinner.

After a full meal my dad and

I decided to use the holiday
to catch up on some of my sewing needs. I had a couple pair of
cycling gloves that needed mending. I also
spent
some time updating the
website.

This is the house they bought
across the street. It has three
bedrooms, two
fireplaces
and hardwood
floors.

Here they are sanding the
cabinets in the kitchen for paint. The cabinets on the right
(over my mom) my dad took home to Tennessee to refinish. Jen and
my mom are sanding the rest to
paint here in the
kitchen.

While my mom and Jen
worked inside, my dad and I worked on the front porch to create some
faux columns. As you can see the porch currently has
wrought iron columns. The plan is to cover them
with aluminum flashing to make them look like solid
square columns. Then they'll add a railing to give it a
more homey look. Here we are boxing in the wrought
iron.

Here's one column completed.

|
The columns wrap around to
the car port too. With them all covered, it should add a nice touch
to the front
of the house.

Daisy tried to leave with us. She had
actually jumped into the truck with CJ, but decided she'd be better
off going home with my dad.
