Mt. Washington Summer 1998

Jeff and I drove up to Mt. Washington in the White Mountains of New Hampshire to do some backpacking with his cousin and his cousin's friend . On the first part of our trip we did a 2 day trip on the Appalachian trail over Wildcat Mt. Here is Jeff and our gear at the summit of one of the peaks we went over .

All of us pose for a picture at the summit.

The bare rock face of this mountain is the scar left from the material that slid and piled up into the lake
below.

This was our campsite the first night. We were exhausted. It was one of the most difficult trips I had done.
Most of the hiking was either straight up or straight down.

On the third day we did a day hike to the summit of Mt. Washington. This is looking up to Tuckerman's
ravine.

Here we are nearing the summit.

Almost there.

Some woman yelled at me for "making" CJ hike to the top with us. Judging by this picture, I'd say CJ had
a pretty good time.

This was one of the original weather stations located at the summit. Notice the chains used to keep the
building from blowing away.

This is the cog railroad. From the backside of Mt. Washington, you can take it to the top.

This is looking down to the Lake in the Clouds hut. You can barely see it off to the right of the lake.
