At the beginning of the Porcupine Rim
Trail there's this nice ovelook into Castle Valley. I think the
towers are called
the Fisher
Towers, but I can't
be
sure.
Taking a little break before
we blast the double track of
Porcupine
Rim.
Craig ready for
the finale.
Another cliff shot to remind us just how close
we
were.
The
Porcupine Rim is mostly an old jeep trail through the scrub. We
spent a lot of time in the big ring hauling ass, so there aren't any
pictures of the ride. Near the bottom it becomes single track
again where it winds its way through a little canyon and out to the
road next to the Colorado. This is probably my favorite
part of the trail because it gets crazy
technical. The turns are tight with lots of sharp steep little
rocks to climb over and
around.
At the very bottom
- right before the road - there's a jump where a photography from
town takes your picture. Here's my effort at
air.

launching.
And finally Jeff. The
jump really surprises you. You think you're going to hit it and do
something really cool, but once you're in the air you realize
you're quite a ways from the
ground.
I tracked our progress
with my GPS. Here's a map tacking the route we took from the top and
back into
town.
And here's a little
elevation profile of the route. The bottom (Moab) is about
4,000
ft.
