After riding
the Poison Spider & Portal trails, we headed out to Bartlett
Wash to check things out. It was actually located down the road
from Klondike Bluffs. We had heard this was a great place to
go, but never really heard why. Once we got into it, we
quickly learned why. It's slickrock like the Slickrock trail, but
it's more varied. Basically you can ride anywhere and anyway you
want
out
here.
Traveling across this slope,
you could "surf" up and down the
slope.
Gives you an idea of how much
there is. Afterwords we wished we had done this instead of the
Slickrock
trail
The area was huge. Unfortunately we
had a limited amount of time. We had to return the bikes that
evening and our morning ride was pretty long. The worst part was
we hadn't eaten since breakfast that morning. By the time we got out
to here, we were
wasted.
This is looking in the opposite direction. It
just goes on and
on.
The lovely
desert
landscape.
In addition to surfing the
slopes, there were these huge bowls you could ride up, down or
around in various sizes. This one was pretty wide and not very
steep. There was one shute that was very narrow and steep. It was
even a double with a turn. You went down then down again around
a corner. Some sixty year old local did it while we were there, but
none of us had the courage or energy to try it. We were pretty
bummed.
