Wes was explaining to the
group how the UFO landed in this little clearing and gave him his
super-human cycling strength one day. Ben pointing to confirm the location.
A cockpit shot. Not sure why.
Thought it looked cool with the scorched earth.
This
was the first of two flats for Martin. Flats usually aren't
that significant, but Martin never gets flats. He's so light on
the bike (weight and style) that he never
wrecks or gets flats.
Some
more rolling shots. Ben and Chris holding up the rear.
Self portrait
rolling shot.
The guys rolling out
front.
One of the climbs
we did had this incredible view three quarters of the way up. It's
nice to get such rewards for your climbing efforts.
Martin's second flat.
Then Chris got a flat. At
least it was in this pretty location at the top of Shingletown
Gap.
At the end of the ride was this killer
downhill, but we had to do this killer climb first. It was loose and
sunbaked. The downhill was insane. We were exhausted and it was steep and loose. A few
wrecks, but no injuries.
Post ride relaxing. Our original
intention was to do the thirty-five miles of the Single Speed World
Championship course, but Wes took us on some
alternative trails. That was a good move. We got to see a lot
more of the State College trails that I'll certainly
be returning to. State College ride
went roughly 25 miles. Hopefully in the near future I'll get
the GPS data up for each ride.
Packed up and heading
home.
And for the geeks out there,
here's the data. First the Michaux map.
