The
Marysville Race festival weekend was the first weekend of July this
summer. Craig and I went up early Friday to get a good camping spot
for the
team.
The spot turned out great. It
was big enough for all of us and far enough away from
everyone else. We had this cool kitchen/hang out area in the
front.
And this cool camping pasture
out
back.
My
two-niner slumming with two Seven two-niners. This picture was taken
Saturday morning after the night time trial the night before. There
was one section that was particularly
muddy.
Oh
look! Another Seven two-niner or should I say another $5000 single
speed.
Ben decided to
do the six hour endurance race. I think this was around hour two of
the event. He ended up fourth. He and the fifth place guy
rode the last half of the race together helping each other
along. On the last lap they decided who'd cross the finish line
first with a quick game of "Rock, Paper, Sissors." Ben won with
a
rock.
Here's Topher stickering his
bike. He's been working out the kinks for a couple of months
now. The logos (as most of the bike) came out really
well. And yes, it's another two-niner single
speed.
Here's an after shot
of Topher's bike. Unfortunately you can't quite see the
stickers.
I had a bit of a
problem in the first half mile of my race. My pedal came apart on me
(a common problem for Crank Brothers pedals). Luckily I was
close enough to our camp to run back and throw another
pedal on my bike and keep racing. I finished in the middle of my
class. Can't imagine how well I would have done without the
mechanical.
