After
breakfast we headed to town for more supplies. On the way, Jeff took
this cool photo as we were exiting the
valley.

First stop was the local
grocery store for dinner stuff. We walk into the veggie section and
see this. How many times do you walk into a grocery store
and see a moose, so I took a
picture.
|
|
We head over to the deli
section and see this bear lounging on the cheese bar. Another
picture. The locals started snickering at me for
taking pictures. Meanwhile I'm thinking they're
goofballs for having dead animals posed around their
grocery store.

As
odd as it was, the work and artistry that went into it was quite
impressive. There were little signs at each one, though I can't
remember if it was the work of one or more
taxidermists.

People were really laughing at me now, but what
the
hell.
|
|
There were a
whole more, but these were the coolest. Exciting huh? We go away to
the mountains and all I do is take pictures of dead animals in
the grocery
store?

|
Driving back to the cabin, we
passed the Tiadaghton Inn. The entertainment location of our
last winter trip. Turns out we would be back this time
too.

After the grocery store, we headed out
for a hike. We started on the Pine Creek Trail, an excellant Rail to
Trail, then headed up a path on a nearby ridge. There was a time
in college when we would cross this bridge over the top. We'd
actually climb up the runners on the left and right and walk
across the top. Those days are no more. I was told, though barely
remember doing it, that I've jumped off the bridge (not from the
top) into the creek below.

A shot up the Pine Creek.

Not far up from the rail to trail is
what appears to be some kind of stone quarry. I guess it's
feild stone or slate, but most of it looks soft like shale. Old
things like these in the woods have always interested me.
