We didn't spend too much time at the summit. Though sort of protected where we were, any bit of you higher then the rocks behind Mike's back got slammed with wind and driving mist. It stung, soaked and froze you immediately. |

The dogs weren't completely happy. It was kind of flat on top and we kept them on their leashes to protect what little alpine growth there was.
What really surprised us was to find a summit steward near the top tucked behind a cairn like the one behind me. On the popular peaks like Marcy, volunteers go to the tops in the summer to help educate the masses about the delicate environments up there. They also kick asses if you're misbehaving. She realized we were good and we headed on our way thanking her for her service. |

The trek back to the Adirondak Loj was a long one, though I was glad we weren't one of the many hiking to the top of Marcy from this direction. The most interesting thing were the dogs now took every opportunity to sit or lay down when we stopped. No longer were they racing around looking for trouble when we stopped for a break, but taking the opportunity to rest themselves. Hell. It only took three days to get them this way.

One last sketchy bridge.
They weren't really sketchy. The dogs just took issue with the gaps between the boards.

And one last stunt. There was this cool rock outcropping in the stream along side the trail that created a natural flume. Mike jumped across to the rock, which was about a 3' or 4' gap. Before we knew it Gretchen followed then Badhu. They were like "If he can do it, so can we." |

I think I always get a shot of Marcy Dam when I cross it. |

Finally back to the car. The dogs took no time jumping in and laying down.

It was also time to make damage assesments. Though I have a pictue without the sock, I'll just show you this one and you can use your imagination.
Unfortunately this is nothing new for me and hiking. It's not really the boots either. I swear my heels are just made funny and bleed whenever I go hiking.

Boom! The dogs are crashed out and quiet for the ride home.
We also made sure to stop at the Noon Mark Diner in Keene Valley and stuff ourselves before the drive.
