So this was the top of Armstrong (I think.) A little over 4200' tall.

Nothing like mud and mountains.

We sat for a bit and snacked while contemplating the five peaks we still had to do that day.

Badhu looking toward Gothics. Of course we have to go down before we go up again.

Voila! The top of Gothic, which is 4736' tall according to the map. Why the bench mark doesn't have it, is beyond me.

I think this was about the time we started running into people - people that felt obligated to tell us how steep the other way was for them and how difficult it would be for our dogs - people that had no idea where we came from, what we'd done and what our dogs could do - people that didn't realize we were backpacking this trail, not just walking it with our dogs - backpacking a trail that isn't recommended to be backpacked - people that didn't realize I wasn't out here to listen to their crap.

Though surprisingly more cordial, Mike agreed with me.

Gretchen starting to wonder where the trail goes. |
|
|
The trail off of Gothics goes down - straight down. |

The pictures and descriptions make it sound/look worse then it is. Yes, there's a cable to use to help with your balance, but it's not entirely necessary (at least not for everyone). The little kid to the left needed it, but also needed some serious courage. The way he was carrying on and crying when came across them, I'm not sure he hade it past this point going up.
