We had this pile of sticks accumulating
over the three years that we've been here. What better way to
"remove" them then burn
them.
What better excuse for a party then
a bonfire!
Originally it was planned for late
October, but the weather decided to be uncooperative and
rained on our planned date.
So we rescheduled for November and got
snow
instead.
Fortunately snow doesn't stop a fire or a
bunch of people standing around
it.
We renewed our
burn permit, called the fire department and got things
started.
With a forecast low of 20 degrees, people
actually showed
up.
Good thing too. The day and a half Jen spent
cooking would have been a wasted shame on just
me.
Most people
we know are prepared for this kind of thing
anyway.
Boots, hats and puffy coats
were the norm.
And who doesn't like a blazing fire?
Especially when it's blazing in someone else's
yard.
The snow (and Marcus) turned
out to be an asset for child
entertainment.
Jeez. How many pictures of Jay rolling
cigarettes by a fire do I
have?
Keeping the beverages at the right
temperature wasn't a problem for this
party.
