Marsh Creek -  Canoe/Picnic
May 25, 2008

Memorial Day weekend was upon us . Jen and I had simply planned more yard work

Saturday morning I got a call from Jay. He was proposing he and Aileen come out Sunday for an afternoon on the lake (Marsh Creek).

Hmmmm. He's calling us the day before? He's proposing an afternoon of canoeing/kayaking and dog playing?

We're lame (working too much) and Jen will totally go for these plans, so it was set.

Sunday they came over with their boat and dog and we all headed over to Marsh Creek.

Of course I had to get a shot of the Durango with our boat on top. I swear this thing will never get used like the abuse I put into it in the last month.

I really need my car back.

A quick trip over to the lake and it was time to unload the boats and dogs. This would be the first trip for both Gretchen and Carl.

While getting everything ready, the dogs remained calm .

When Jay put the life jacket on Carl, the anticipation grew a bit.

Then it was out into the water. There were some ladies laughing at us. They'd never seen something so crazy/cute as dogs with life preservers in boats.

Shortly after this shot Carl decided it was pretty crazy and jumped out. Little did he know he was leashed and floating with the aid of his PFD. He swam a short circle around the stern and was back in the boat in no time.

Gretchen did pretty well to the other side of the lake. She didn't seem to mind it at all till we got too close to the shore. At that point she realized she was close enough to get out and get away.

She didn't try it, but she pretty much whined for the rest of the trip moving between Jen and me and the bow of the boat.

We decided to pull over and let them play.

Carl is a champ at swimming and playing fetch in the water. Gretchen - not so much

So Carl played and played by himself.

Until Gretchen decided to make a for it.
