Here's looking across the damn and where
the lake used to be. On the far side you can just
make out a wall. I think the wall went all the way around
except for the far side where there were some steps down to a
sandy beach. Above the wall you can see here was an
old lodge or ranger station. It was burned down long before I
started coming out here. I usually avoid it when I'm with the
dog(s), as there's lots of broken glass and rusty nails lying
about up
there.

CJ didn't hesitate to get a closer look.
He's obviously been here before. Gretchen was a
little skeptical as the way down was pretty steep.
You
can see the wall on the far side more
clearly.

|
|
Steep doesn't bother CJ. He ran down the
face to get a drink, then back up before Gretchen figured out
what she was going to
do.
|
|
|
Heights obviously don't bother him
either.
|
|
|
Finally Gretchen took the
plunge.
|
|
|
Then turned around and ran back up. This
shot gives you a real good idea of just how steep it was.

Jen and CJ decided they'd had enough
too.
You can't see it here, but there appears to be more stuff in the woods above this spot. I never thought that area was part of the park, but looking at the map I see it is. Next time we'll have to explore.

Damn hair bands!

I think this is the first picture of me
hiking.

Jen wanted to take
pictures of the mosses with the color filter. Doesn't quite do
it justice

Crossing another
creek.
|
|
Not sure if this
was a cistern, well or what, but it's the last strange thing we
came across in the Six Penny area. What's more strange is
it's further away from the other strange stuff. This might
actually predate the lake area. We'll just have to go back and
explore some more.
