The switch for
the overhead lights in the main bathrom was originally located
behind the door. You had to enter the bathroom, close the door then
hit the switch. The top hole on the right was where the switch
was originally located. The bottom hole I cut to access a
staple holding the wires in the wall. Once the staple was removed, I
could pull the wires back down through the
floor.

Here's a shot of the new
switch location in relation to the
door.

This is looking into the
hole where the switch used to be. The three wires you see go to the
original electric baseboard heater switch that was located above
the light switch. The baseboard switch is still in the wall, but
has been covered over. When I first started the project I couldn't
figure out why there were five wires heading up toward the
switch. It turns out these three went to the old baseboard
heat switch, one was the hot for the light switch and the last
was a junction off that hot to the doorbell. The plan is to remove
these wires before we patch up the holes and
paint.

I had to add a junction box
under the floor to connect the doorbell hot and the switch hot. The
doorbell wire wouldn't reach the new location. Moving the wiring
in the attic was the easiest part. It took me longer to move all
the insulation around then it did to drill the hole and move the
wire.
Total time for this project so far is four
hours.
