When we
bought the house, we were aware of this crack in the garage
wall. Apparently the crack had been there for years. As part
of our settlement, we had some money deducted off the final price of
the house to get the wall fixed. With the weather getting nice,
we decided to get the work done and get
the garage wall
behind
us.

Here's
the crack from
the
outside.

The wall has actually
pushed in a couple of inches - enough for dirt to fall through the
crack and into the
garage.

Here's a shot at the underside of
the crack.

Three guys showed up from A-1
Concrete Leveling and Keystone Foundation Repair Friday morning the
5th. They came all the way from Carlisle, PA. They showed up in
this nicely painted and lettered truck and a dumptruck pulling a
Bobcat track hoe.
|
|
They got right
down to business and installed the jacks they're going to use to
push the wall back into place. What you don't see in this
picture is the other end of these jacks are actually nailed to the
floor - sort of. For each one they drilled a hole into the
floor, then drove a piece of rebar through the foot of the jack
and into the hole to hold it in place.
|
|
Once the
jacks were in place, they got the track hoe going to dig the dirt
out from behind the wall.
|
|
They had to dig by hand
around the electrical service.
|
|
Before they dug the ground out too far, they
started drilling the holes in the back side of the wall for the
concrete to be poured into. The plan is to push the wall back
into place with the jacks, put rebar down into the wall, then fill the holes with concrete.
Seems simple enough.

Here's the wall
completely dug out down to the footer/foundation.
